„Evangeline“ is a silent film drama from 1929 directed by Edwin Carewe based on the poem of the same name by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
In Acadia, the young Evangeline is engaged to Gabriel. But before their wedding can take place, the British imprison the men and send them into exile, with their land forfeited to the crown. Evangeline follows the exiled men in hopes of finding her lover, but even after he and the other Acadians are released in Louisiana, she cannot find him and always arrives at a location shortly after he has left. But she dedicates her life to searching the continent for the man she loves.

Evangeline folgt den verbannten Männern in der Hoffnung, ihren Geliebten zu finden, aber selbst nachdem er und die anderen Akadier in Louisiana freigelassen wurden, kann sie ihn nicht finden und kommt immer an einem Ort an, kurz nachdem er gegangen ist. Doch sie widmet ihr Leben der Suche auf dem Kontinent nach dem Mann, den sie liebt.
