«Rapace» é uma curta-metragem dramática de 2006, escrita e realizada por João Nicolau.

Após concluir o mestrado em antropologia, Hugo passa os dias a dar um descanso ao seu cérebro da leitura interminável de textos de autores desconhecidos. A sua única companhia é Luisa, a empregada doméstica, com quem ele brinca ao gato e ao rato.

Para escapar ao sono da razão, que gera monstros, Hugo exercita o seu talento lírico escrevendo canções sobre o bairro com o seu amigo Manuel. O tranquilo diletantismo do nosso protagonista é abalado por Catarina, uma jovem e bela tradutora que está a iniciar a sua vida profissional como freelancer. Hugo fica fascinado e indeciso. No alto, um falcão-de-torre voa. Ele não é a única ave de rapina capaz disso.

Nach seinem Masterabschluss in Anthropologie verbringt Hugo seine Tage damit, seinem Gehirn eine Pause vom endlosen Lesen von Texten unbekannter Autoren zu gönnen. Seine einzige Gesellschaft ist Luisa, die Putzfrau, mit der er Katz und Maus spielt.

Um dem Schlaf der Vernunft zu entkommen, der Monster hervorbringt, übt Hugo seine lyrische Ader, indem er zusammen mit seinem Freund Manuel Lieder über ihre Nachbarschaft schreibt. Der ruhige Dilettantismus unseres Protagonisten wird durch Catarina erschüttert, eine junge und schöne Übersetzerin, die ihr Berufsleben als Freiberuflerin beginnt. Hugo ist fasziniert und schwankt. Hoch oben schwebt ein Turmfalke. Er ist nicht der einzige Raubvogel, der das kann.

After finishing his MA in Anthropology, Hugo spends his days giving his brain a rest from the endless reading of texts by unknown authors. His only company is Luisa, the cleaning lady, with whom he plays cat and mouse.

To escape the sleep of reason – which creates monsters –, Hugo exercises his lyrical vein by writing, with his friend Manuel, songs about their neighbourhood. The quiet dilettantism of our protagonist is shaken by Catarina, a young and beautiful translator who’s starting her professional life as a freelancer. Hugo is hooked and wavers. High above, a kestrel falcon hovers. It’s not the only bird of prey that can do it.
