„Behind the Screen“ is a silent film comedy by and starring Charlie Chaplin, who co-wrote the screenplay with Vincent Bryan and Maverick Terrell from 1916.
Charlie Chaplin plays David, a stagehand who works in a film studio. The movie shows the comical and often chaotic events that take place behind the scenes of a studio. David strives to be successful in the film industry while at the same time falling in love with an actress. There are numerous slapstick-like scenes in which Chaplin’s character is confronted with the challenges of filmmaking and the peculiar personalities of the people in the studio.
In addition to the humorous elements, the film also contains social commentary and satirical insights into the film industry and working conditions at the time.
