“Just Suppose” is a 1926 silent romantic drama film directed by Kenneth Webb, and written by Violet E. Powell (adaptation) and C. Graham Baker, based on the 1920 eponymous play by Albert Ellsworth Thomas.

European Prince Rupertis the second son of the King of Koronia. Rupert is bored with the pomp and circumstance of his protected life and yearns for adventure.

One day he spies a pretty American girl, Linda Lee Stafford, and decides to follow her to the United States. After all, he's not the heir apparent. Once there he changes his name to John Gregory and meets the young woman he previously had become acquainted with back home. Rupert falls in love with Linda and romance blossoms.

Through a series of accidents, both his father and his older brother the Crown Prince die. Upon their unexpected deaths, Rupert finds himself first in direct line for the throne. Rupert is then called back home to Koronia, and a royal marriage is arranged for him with a plain looking young woman with substantial ankles.

Before the wedding ceremony takes place, however, the widow of the late crown prince gives birth to twins, who become the heirs presumptive to the throne.

This situation makes Rupert free to wed whom he will.

Rupertr rushes to see Linda who has returned to Europe on a visit, and she and Rupert are married.

Der europäische Prinz Rupert ist der zweite Sohn des Königs von Koronia. Rupert ist gelangweilt von der Pracht und dem Prunk seines behüteten Lebens und sehnt sich nach Abenteuern.

Eines Tages entdeckt er eine hübsche Amerikanerin, Linda Lee Stafford, und beschließt, ihr in die Vereinigten Staaten zu folgen. Schließlich ist er nicht der Thronfolger. Dort angekommen, ändert er seinen Namen in John Gregory und trifft die junge Frau wieder, die er zuvor in seiner Heimat kennengelernt hatte. Rupert verliebt sich in Linda und eine Romanze entsteht.

Durch eine Reihe von Unfällen sterben sowohl sein Vater als auch sein älterer Bruder, der Kronprinz. Nach ihrem unerwarteten Tod steht Rupert plötzlich an erster Stelle der Thronfolge. Rupert wird daraufhin nach Koronia zurückgerufen, wo eine königliche Hochzeit für ihn mit einer unscheinbaren jungen Frau mit kräftigen Knöcheln arrangiert wird.

Bevor die Hochzeitszeremonie stattfindet, bringt die Witwe des verstorbenen Kronprinzen jedoch Zwillinge zur Welt, die die Thronfolger werden.

Diese Situation gibt Rupert die Freiheit, zu heiraten, wen er will.

Rupert eilt zu Linda, die zu Besuch nach Europa zurückgekehrt ist, und sie heiraten.
