‘King & Country’ is a 1964 anti-war film directed by Joseph Losey. The screenplay by Evan Jones is b ased on the 1964 play ‘Hamp’ by John Wilson, in turn based on a segment of the 1955 autobiographical novel ‘Return to the Wood’ by James Lansdale Hodson.

During World War I, Army Private Arthur James Hamp is accused of desertion during battle. The officer assigned to defend him at his court-martial, Captain Hargreaves, finds out there is more to the case than meets the eye.
