„Love on the Dole“ is a 1941 drama film directed by John Baxter. The screenplay by Walter Greenwood, Barbara K. Emary and Rollo Gamble is an adaptation of the 1932 eponymous novel by Walter Greenwood respectively the 1935 stage adaptation of the novel by Greenwood and Ronald Gow.

When Sally Hardcastle weaves through the stormy streets of Lancashire, she and Larry Meath must dodge more than just hard times – love and loyalty are put to the ultimate test as family fortunes hang by a thread. With Sam Grundy lurking in the wings and Harry Hardcastle betting on luck, the Hardcastles discover that in the game of survival, the stakes are always sky-high and the odds rarely fair.
