„The Ghoul“ is a 1933 horror film directed by T. Hayes Hunter. The screenplay by Roland Pertwee, John Hastings Turner and Rupert Downing is an adaption of a play by Dr. Frank King and Leonard Hines.

Ben Dragore, a knife-wielding, enigmatic Egyptian, is on a quest to find a sacred jewel stolen from an ancient tomb. The thief informs him that he sold it to Professor Morlant, a devoted Egyptologist who believes fervently in the pagan power of the ancient Egyptian gods. Morlant, dying from a mysterious disfiguring ailment, instructs his loyal manservant to wrap the jewel in his hand and issues a warning of dire consequences if his final wishes are disregarded. Following Morlant’s burial in an Egyptian-style tomb on his estate, a thief steals the valuable stone from the corpse. As the ghastly-looking deceased man resurrects at the next full moon to seek revenge, leaving all who seek the jewel at the mercy of the ancient gods’ wrath.

Ben Dragore, ein messerschwingender, rätselhafter Ägypter, ist auf der Suche nach einem heiligen Juwel, das aus einer alten Grabstätte gestohlen wurde. Der Dieb teilt ihm mit, dass er es an Professor Morlant verkauft hat, einen engagierten Ägyptologen, der fest an die heidnische Macht der alten ägyptischen Götter glaubt. Morlant, der an einer mysteriösen, entstellenden Krankheit stirbt, weist seinen treuen Diener an, das Juwel in seine Hand zu wickeln, und warnt ihn vor schlimmen Folgen, falls sein letzter Wunsch missachtet wird. Nachdem Morlant in einem ägyptisch anmutenden Grab auf seinem Anwesen beigesetzt wurde, stiehlt ein Dieb den wertvollen Stein vom Leichnam. Als der grässlich aussehende Verstorbene beim nächsten Vollmond wieder aufersteht, um sich zu rächen, sind alle, die das Juwel suchen, dem Zorn der alten Götter ausgeliefert.
