“The Incredible Jewel Robbery” was an episode of the television series “General Electric Theater” that aired on March 8, 1959. It marked the final television appearance of three of the Marx Brothers—Groucho, Harpo, and Chico. It was directed by Mitchell Leisen and written by Dallas Gaultois and James Edmiston.

Harpo and Chico play Harry and Nick, two bumbling would-be robbers who are planning a jewel heist. The two disguise themselves—Chico as a police officer and Harpo as Groucho Marx. They are, of course, caught and must face the witnesses during police questioning. During the lineup, the real Groucho shows up and is immediately recognized as the thief. Groucho then utters the only line in the otherwise silent film: “We won’t talk until we see our lawyer!” Everyone puts their leg in the other’s arm, and the “You Bet Your Life” duck appears with “The End” in its beak.

The Incredible Jewel Robbery war eine Folge der Fernsehserie General Electric Theater, die am 08. März 1959 ausgestrahlt wurde. Es war der letzte Fernsehauftritt der drei Marx Brothers Groucho, Harpo und Chico. Regie führte Mitchell Leisen, das Drehbuch schrieben Dallas Gaultois und James Edmiston.

Harpo und Chico spielen Harry und Nick, zwei unfähige Möchtegern-Räuber, die einen Juwelendiebstahl planen. Die beiden verkleiden sich, Chico als Polizist und Harpo als Groucho Marx. Sie werden natürlich erwischt und müssen sich bei der polizeilichen Vernehmung den Zeugen gegenübergestellt. Während der Gegenüberstellung taucht der wahre Groucho auf und wird sofort als Dieb erkannt. Groucho sagt dann den einzigen Satz in dem ansonsten ohne Sprache auskommenden Streifen: „We won’t talk until we see our lawyer!“ (Wir sagen nichts, ohne unseren Anwalt!) Jeder gibt dem anderen sein Bein in die Ahnd und die „You Bet Your Life“-Ente erscheint mit „The End“ in ihrem Schnabel.
