« L’Incendie » est un court-métrage d’animation réalisé en 2022 par Nicolas Rolland, qui en a également écrit le scénario en collaboration avec Pierre le Gall.

Provence, été 1972. Un incendie de forêt se rapproche de plus en plus d’une ferme familiale isolée.

Chantal attend avec son fils Simon des nouvelles d’Alain, qui est parti avec les hommes du village pour lutter contre l’incendie. Alors que la fumée assombrit le ciel et que le vent se lève, la peur et l’angoisse envahissent la ferme.

Inspiré d’un fait réel survenu dans la famille du réalisateur Nicolas Rolland, « L’Incendie » raconte cette catastrophe du point de vue de ceux qui sont restés sur place. Au cœur du film se trouve une relation mère-fils tendue, mise à rude épreuve lorsque leur maison, leurs animaux et leurs souvenirs sont menacés.

Le feu, rarement montré directement, devient une présence invisible à travers la fumée, les bruits, les variations de lumière et la destruction progressive du paysage.

Chantal waits with her son Simon for news of Alain, who has left with the village men to fight the fire. As smoke darkens the sky and the wind rises, fear and uncertainty take over the farm.

Inspired by a true story from director Nicolas Rolland’s family, L’Incendie tells the disaster from the perspective of those left behind. At its heart is a strained mother-son relationship, tested as their home, animals and memories come under threat.

Rarely shown directly, the fire becomes an unseen presence through smoke, sound, changing light and the gradual destruction of the landscape.
