„Slouch“ und sein kartoffelförmiger Songwriter-Dämon „Nuffti“ finden die Musik, die sie machen, toll. Seine Freundin Lisa, die mit ihm in einer schäbigen Garage wohnt, findet das süß und macht bei seiner Selbstverherrlichung mit. Doch dann sagt ihm eines Tages der legendäre Musikkritiker Chester McLean, dass seine Musik langweilig ist und zerstört seine Illusion. Als Lisa ihm dann auch noch mitteilt, dass sie schwanger ist, gerät Slouch in einen emotionalen Aufruhr. Bei einem Besichtigungstermin für ein potenzielles neues, schmuckes Haus knallt und schubst Slouch Lisa, was ein Wechselbad der Gefühle auslöst, an dem ihre Beziehung fast zerbricht. Erst als Slouch lernt, Nuffti keinen freien Lauf zu lassen, kann er einen Weg finden, ein harmonisches Leben zu führen und trotzdem kreativ zu sein – vielleicht sogar mehr denn je.

His girlfriend Lisa who lives with him in a shabby garage finds that cute and plays along with his self-aggrandisement. But then one day the legendary music critic Chester McLean tells him that his music is boring and crushes his illusion. After Lisa then tells him that she’s pregnant, Slouch is in emotional turmoil. At a viewing for a potential new, neat home, Slouch pops and pushes Lisa, which sets off a flurry of dark emotions, which almost breaks their relationship. It is only when Slouch learns not to give free reign to Nuffti, that he can find a way to live a harmonious life while still being creative – maybe even more than ever.
