“Othello” is a 1922 silent romantic drama film directed by Dmitriy Bukhovetskiy, who also wrote the screenplay together with Karl Müller-Hagens, based on the play “The Tragœdy of Othello, The Moore of Venice” by William Shakespeare, that he wrote at the beginning of the 17th century.

A powerful general, fresh from victory, marries the woman he loves, convinced their bond is unshakeable. But lurking in the shadows is a serpent of jealousy, nourished by the sly words of a friend. As love clashes with doubt, clouds gather over their passion and loyalty, threatening to unravel everything they hold dear.

„Othello“ ist ein romantisches Stummfilmdrama aus dem Jahr 1922 unter der Regie von Dimitri Buchowetzki, der zusammen mit Karl Müller-Hagens auch das Drehbuch schrieb, basierend auf dem Theaterstück „The Tragœdy of Othello, The Moore of Venice“ (dt. Titel: Othello, der Mohr von Venedig) von William Shakespeare, das dieser zu Beginn des 17. Jahrhunderts verfasste.

Ein mächtiger General heiratet die Frau, die er liebt, überzeugt davon, dass ihre Verbindung unerschütterlich ist. Doch im Schatten lauert eine Schlange der Eifersucht, genährt durch die hinterhältigen Worte eines Freundes. Als Liebe und Zweifel aufeinanderprallen, ziehen Wolken über ihrer Leidenschaft und Treue auf und drohen, alles zu zerstören, was ihnen lieb und teuer ist.
