The Poppy is also a Flower (1966)

“The Poppy is also a Flower” is an anti-drug film from 1966 by Terence Young and Henry Levin, based on a screenplay by Jo Eisinger, Ian Fleming, and Jack Davies.

When US narcotics investigator Benson is murdered in the Iranian desert after attempting to buy opium from a nomadic leader, the United Nations sends agents Lincoln and Jones to the Persian Gulf to break up the drug ring operating there. Their mission first takes the two agents to Tehran, where they meet Linda, supposedly Benson's widow. Shortly afterwards, however, she disappears again. Together with UN scientists, the two agents manage to intercept a shipment of opium, mark it with radioactive tracer and put it back into circulation, then track it through the drug trade with the help of a Geiger counter. They remain on the trail of the opium for a while, until it disappears.

Finally, the Naples police report that they have seized the cargo in question from a certain playboy named Serge Markos in Monte Carlo. Lincoln is already on his way and visits the wealthy Markos on his yacht. When he arrives, a lively party is in full swing, where he is surprised to see the attractive Linda again. In search of answers, Lincoln tries to question Markos' wife Monique. However, she is hopelessly addicted to drugs and therefore unable to provide any information. The next morning, Lincoln is found dead. Now Agent Jones must continue the mission alone. To do so, he follows Markos on a train to Paris. The mysterious Linda is also on board this time, and she finally reveals herself to be a UN agent. After escaping an attack by Markos' men, they return to his yacht, where they finally find enough evidence to expose Markos as both the head of the drug ring and the murderer.
