“The Stepford Wives” is a 1975 satirical psychological thriller directed by Bryan Forbes. The screenplay by William Goldman is based on the 1972 novel of the same name by Ira Levin.

In the small town of Stepford, the women are completely subservient to their lazy husbands: they willingly take on all the housework and display a glaring lack of intelligence, while the men make all the decisions. Joanna and her friend Bobbie, who are concerned about this situation, begin to investigate. They are in for a few surprises.
