„Le Bal“ est un film musical de 1983 réalisé par Ettore Scola sur une idée de Jean-Claude Penchenat. Le film ne comporte pas de dialogues ; l’intrigue est transmise exclusivement par le jeu des acteurs.
L’ensemble de l’intrigue se déroule dans un dancing semi-enterré de Paris. Elle se compose d’un récit-cadre situé dans le présent et de sept flashbacks, chacun décrivant une période du 20e siècle. Chaque flashback se termine par un instantané qui mène au flashback suivant (comme une photo au-dessus du bar). Les mêmes acteurs/danseurs jouent toujours des personnages différents.

L’intera trama si svolge in una sala da ballo semi-sotterranea di Parigi. Si compone di una storia di cornice ambientata nel presente e di sette flashback, ognuno dei quali rappresenta un periodo del XX secolo. Ogni flashback termina con un’istantanea che conduce al flashback successivo (come una foto sopra il bar). Gli stessi attori/danzatori interpretano sempre personaggi diversi.

The entire plot takes place in a semi-underground dance hall in Paris. It consists of a frame story set in the present and seven flashbacks, each of which depicts a period of the 20th century. Each flashback ends with a snapshot that leads to the next flashback (as a photo above the bar). The same actors/dancers always play different characters.
„Le Bal – Der Tanzpalast“ ist ein Musikfilm aus dem Jahr 1983 unter der Regie von Ettore Scola nach einer Idee von Jean-Claude Penchenat. Der Film kommt ohne Dialoge aus; die Handlung wird ausschließlich durch das Spiel der Schauspieler vermittelt.
Die gesamte Handlung spielt sich in einem halb unterirdischen gelegenen Tanzsaal in Paris ab. Sie besteht aus einer Rahmenhandlung, die in der Gegenwart spielt, und sieben Rückblenden, die jeweils einen Zeitraum des 20. Jahrhunderts wiedergeben. Jede Rückblende endet mit einer Momentaufnahme, die zur nächsten Rückblende führt (als Foto über der Bar). Die gleichen Schauspieler/Tänzer spielen dabei immer unterschiedliche Charaktere.
